A man was recently arrested by police for stabbing and robbing a transgender woman he met through a messaging app because she did not look like the pictures on her profile.
The incident which happened on Thursday (20/09/18) in Chonburi, Thailand, saw the coercer, 31-year-old Prayat “Golf” Uppatham take out a pair of scissors and stab the victim, 45-year-old Athiwat Duangthim in the chest. He then proceeded to use a blunt object to hit him on the head. He then tried to steal the victim’s handphone and cash, however, Athiwat fought back by punching him and then running off to seek help from some locals.
They had decided to meet up after chatting on a messaging app, but Golf lost his cool when he realised that she looked nothing like her pictures. He then brought Athiwat somewhere quiet where he planned to kill her.
Police soon had the suspect in custody reported news sources and he readily admitted to contacting women through messaging apps with the idea of having sex with them and stealing their phones and money.
He has been charged with Assault and theft.
