An 18-year-old student has died from stomach cancer, after eating instant noodles daily since he was in secondary school and had made it a habit to cook some whenever he studied late into the night.
According to SeeHua News, the university student started to show symptoms of stomachaches, nausea and bloating. His family, which became worried after he didn’t get better, decided to take him to the hospital for medical treatment. This was when he was diagnosed with terminal stage stomach cancer and it had already spread to his other organs so he had little chance to live. He battled with cancer for over a year before succumbing to the disease.
The oncologist at the hospital, Dr Yan Jiarui urged people to reduce their intake of sausages, smoked meat, pickled food, and instant noodles as these items have been linked to being the cause of cancer.
Liu Zhiming, the attending physician at the Department of Internal Medicine in Taiwan, pointed out that the symptoms of early gastric cancer are not obvious, and it is easy to be mistaken for a gastric ulcer or stomach pain. 80% of domestic gastric cancer patients have been diagnosed at an advanced stage. Once transferred, the five-year survival rate is less than 10%.
No matter how hard you study, if you don’t take care of your health it will all be for nought. You could have all the riches in the world and have a doctorate in any given field, but if you are not alive to enjoy it, what’s the point? Health is wealth, so take care of yourselves!
